Highly Entertaining!
I usually can't watch a foreign film all the way through but I do like dance and/or singing oriented movies. I loved Pitch Perfect, Stomp the Yard, Save the Last Dance, Drumline . . . you get the idea. Teenagers finding themselves while they put it all on the line in a final performance. I love that stuff. So I tried this one out and it blew me away. I thought it was going to be some cheesy, off-the-wall, over-the-top Asian film like Hong Kong flicks but instead I found its various characters and storylines totally engrossing. I have been telling everyone I know about this film. I saw it on a weekday night and it made my week!
Good Movie!
I found this movie with a random search. My wife and I loved it. She understands Vietnamese and I thought the subtitles were well interpreted! It's kind of a Viet version of Save the Last Dance.
saigon electric
Strong dance film from stephane gauger (award winning film, owl and the sparrow) that has classic coming of age tropes and done really well with great performances from mostly non-actors. Showcases a vibrant, modern day vietnam that is not not really seen in film.
